The 2022 financial disclosure report for U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon reveals she received no gifts and only one reimbursement for attending a legal conference in Montana. Newsweek reviewed the disclosure in the online database for federal judicial financial reports as Cannon confronts renewed scrutiny in her role overseeing the case involving classified documents against former President Donald Trump. A three-judge panel of the Florida-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit reversed Cannon's appointment of a special master in the documents case. After issuing an order that Trump's trial will commence on May 20, 2024, and rejecting his legal team's request for an indefinite delay until after the 2024 presidential election, in which Trump is a candidate for a second term, the judge once again became the center of attention. Trump was indicted on 37 felony counts on June 9 for allegedly mishandling classified documents after departing the White House and failing to return them when requested to do so by the appropriate authorities. Four days later, after being arraigned in Miami, Trump pled not guilty to all charges.
